ANNOUNCEMENT
Because of the terror attack in New York, regrettably we hereby inform you that we decided to put off our concert in Carnegie Hall for an indefinite period.

At first, we believed it was the time to carry out our peaceful plan, and we arranged part of the program and changed it to a charity concert for American Red Cross under the permission of UNICEF. However, white smoke is hanging over the area still now and it is not a suitable condition to have a performance with relaxation both for the orchestra and audience.

The concert tour was not a sightseeing for us, of course. It was suggested that all players would enter America by the performance visa. It was very honorable for us as it was the proof of being a national musical performer. All members strongly wished to accomplish it even if we needed to reduce the scale. Facsimile messages, telephone calls, e-mails, letters for encouragement reached our office a lot and they moved us so much. But after the careful consideration, we decided to put off it BECAUSE we have such wonderful members and friends.

My aim was to have the best performance in Manhattan conveying the message of world peace to the world with my orchestra. But now is not the time to make my dream come true in a good condition.

I think members in the orchestra are having hard time now, but please understand this situation and have a bright hope to present our magnificent performance by our 150-piece guitar orchestra to people in New York when the time will come.

Also, we promise people who have supported it by today that we never waste their kindness.

On behalf of people who are concerned with this concert tour, we sincerely ask everyone to understand our unavoidable decision. Hiroki Niibori Musical Director Japan Educational Guitar Association

DR. NIIBORI'S MESSAGE ABOUT THE TERRORISM IN NY IN SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
I would like to express my own personal and our group's most sincere regret at the terror attack in New York, and we sincerely pray the victims' souls may rest in peace from the bottom of our hearts. At the same time, we extend our deepest sympathies to their families, all concerned and the nation. So that such a tragedy never occurs again, we all on the earth have to think what we can do. Musicians in the world have been proving that people on this blue planet are all one family through music. Now, we need to be aware of the fact, and proudly make more efforts to promote our peaceful activities through music. Me and all players in the orchestra wish that our performance will heal people in New York, and become the first piece of their courage. (Sep. 17, 2001)
